Last Thursday our team invited clients, friends and associates to join in on some Oktoberfest celebrations at Matter HQ. Thanks to the support of our friends at Cafe 107 and Volkswurst, we utilised the space around our office to host Oktoberfest 2021. With our new-found freedoms, we were able to come together, embrace in-person connections for the first time in a long time and take part in some fun, festive activities.
If you just so happened to be standing on or passing by the corner of Alexander Street and Holtermann Street at roughly 6 pm on Thursday the 28th of October you may have witnessed a distinctive display of Oktoberfest celebrations, including a conga line led by a traditionally-dressed man playing the accordion squeezebox. Not something you see every day in Crows Nest, Sydney.
The German festivities were proudly brought to us by our friends at Volkswurst, a food truck business that serves authentic German “wurst” from a real (German-flag-coloured) Kombi. Our go-to coffee shop, Cafe 107, transformed into a mini-bar for the event with the help of some of our developers who set aside their coding skills and performed as mixologists for the evening.
The event was a huge success and brought upon a sentimental reminder of all the fun we have had over the years as a team and as a community. No doubt this year has been tough for many and so we feel very grateful to have been able to host this occasion and to reconnect with our community in person once again.
Thank you to all who were a part of it.
